Last Words of Love - Performance and Rehearsal Tracks
In this Passiontide devotion, we hear the seven last words of Jesus, spoken from the Cross. We reflect on the worst of human nature and how it can be transformed through the mystery of self-giving love.
The Seven Last Words, within their biblical context, are accompanied by a reflection on the readings, a sentence from the poem The Last Words by Michael Simmons Roberts, and the choice of a hymn or an anthem.
The music provided has been chosen to be as flexible as possible, so that the service can be used with just the congregation singing the hymns; or with choir singing the anthems; or with a combination of the two.
Last Words of Love include six anthems in a range of styles and levels of difficulty, including four written specially for this collection by Joanna Forbes L'Estrange, Thomas Hewitt Jones, Peter Nardone, and Amy Summers.
The six anthems in Last Words of Love have been recorded by the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields, conducted by Andrew Earis, organist Polina Sosnina. There are full performances of each anthem, and rehearsal tracks for each part.
