MARGARET RIZZA
Margaret Rizza (b.1929) is a quite remarkable figure. Now in her 90’s, she only began to compose in 1997, in her late 60’s. In that relatively short space of time, she has risen to become a major personality in the world of Christian choral music. She has had substantial sales of both her printed and recorded music, including a chart topping recording on the UCJ label in 2006, which started as Album of the Week on Classic FM. All this has followed an illustrious career as an opera singer, in which she sang professionally for 25 years under the name of Margaret Lensky. She sang at many of the major operatic venues under such conductors as Britten, Stravinsky and Bernstein.
