Editorial Procedure: Bar-lines, accidentals and rests in small type, cautionary accidentals (small, in brackets) and slurs crossed through are editorial as are expression marks etc - which may therefore be disregarded. Redundant accidentals are omitted. Spelling and punctuation have been modernised. The music has been transposed in accordance with evidence about pitch in sacred music at this time.
The bass part has been reconstructed by reference to the organ part. The soprano/ Medius verses are lacking in MS C I (Source 1) so are adapted, to marry with the Durham version, from MS 1045 (Source 2). The alto/Contratenor verses are in MS E11a (Source 1) only. No attempt has been made to detail the many variants in MSS 1045-6 (Source 2); those noted relate to editorial options.
