Several medieval motets have texts praising contemporary musicians. Bernard (?) de Clunys Apollinis eclipsatur honours a company of mid-century French musicians, while Johannes Alanuss (John Aleyns) Sub arturo plebs celebrates a galaxy of English musicians active in the reigns of Edward III and Richard II.
